in my granfathers time...(by aina altés)

In my grandfathers time all was different, they don’t have machines like washing machine or dish washing, they have to wash the clothe or the plates by hand with laundries.

They don’t have heating, they have fire place to heat the house, that was big than the actual houses.

They don’t have telephones or mobiles; they have to go at the houses to say whatever they want. In this time the houses don’t have running water the people have to go to take water at a well, at normally in the central square of the villages there was a well. My grandfathers couldn’t imagine that the world could change so much.

Today and yesterday(by Andreu Arderiu

My grandmother lived in Galicia in a small house with her six brothers and sisters.

The house was small and they didn't have washing machine, computer, tv, etc. . .

They didn't have any household appliances and they did the household choars. Manually.

They didn't have running water and they should go to a well. They travel walking or on bike, because the cars was to expensive.

She began to go to school at 10 years old, and she go only 3 hours a day. Her school was a small school with few teachers and few material.

My grandmother, when she was little, he lived in Barcelona. She live in a buiding near the "avinguda meridiana". There aren’t too cars, and T.V. but there are cars of horses and the first trains and trams.

In ther hause, thi haven’t washer, and the oven go with gas. they thont have runnin water, and not also electricity.

They travel in train, or with bicicle, and in the school, they go whith uniform.

My grandmother, could not go so much to school, because when she was 6 years old, the civil war started.

TODAY AND YESTERDAY (By Nèstor Ferrer)

When my grandparents were small, now 80 years ago, the houses did not have lights, there weren’tcomputers, there weren’t dishwashers, there was a bucket for washing, there weren’t speakers, they did not have cars to move through the city, the children were separated in the school, there wasn’t vacuum cleaner, there wasn’t a washing machine, there wasn’t a DVD,

climatic change

Climate is a sort of huge 'machine'. What's called 'weather' is just a small bit of this machine. What drives this machine? The sun. Without the sun, there would be no climate, no weather, no people, no penguins, no life.
What happens next is not good news for people. The ice of the poles is melting. Some of it already is melting fast. The Arctic sea ice gets less every year and the great frozen continent of Antarctica is losing ice too. Other seas, like the North Sea, are warming too. This means that fish which need colder waters have to swim north and this can have bad effects of both fishing and seabirds.

As you know, penguins like ice. Without very cold water and ice, we get too hot because, like
polar bears, we're built for cold weather. But for you people, it will be much worse.

For a start, all the ice that melts will start to fill up the oceans and make them overflow on land. And the water itself will take up more space simply because it is warmer. That will make it overflow even more onto the land.

PAUL NEWMAN

PAUL NEWMAN

Paul Leonard Newman was born in January 26, 1925 and died in September 26, 2008. He was an American actor, film director, entrepreneur, humanitarian, and auto racing enthusiast. He won numerous awards for his interpretation in many films. He also won several national championships as a driver in Sports Car Club of America road racing.

Newman was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio. Newman’s father was Jewish, and ran a sport shop.

Newman showed an early interest in the theater, which his mother encouraged. At the age of seven, he made his acting debut, playing.

His first movie for Hollywood was The Silver Chalice (1954). In February 1954, Newman appeared in a screen test with James Dean, directed by Gjon Mili, for East of Eden (1955). Newman was testing for the role of Aron Trask; Dean was testing for the role of Aron’s fraternal twin brother, Cal Trask. Dean won the part of Cal, while the role Newman was up for went to Richard Davalos. The same year Newman would co-star with Eva Marie Saint and Frank Sinatra in a live and color television broadcast of the Thornton Wilder stage play Our Town. In 2003 Newman would act in a remake of Our Town, taking on Sinatra’s role as the stage manager.

In 2003, he appeared in a Broadway theatre revival of Thornton Wilder’s Our Town, receiving his first Tony Award nomination for his performance. PBS and the cable network Showtime aired a taping of the production, and Newman was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or TV Movie.

His last screen appearance was as a conflicted mob boss in the 2002 film Road to Perdition opposite Tom Hanks, although he continued to provide voice work for films. In keeping with his strong interest in car racing, he provided the voice of Doc Hudson, a retired race car in Disney/Pixar’s Cars. Similarly, he served as narrator for the 2007 film Dale, about the life of the legendary NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt, which turned out to be Newman’s final film performance in any form.

Newman announced that he would entirely retire from acting on May 25, 2007. He told US broadcaster ABC that he did not feel he could continue acting on the level that he would want to. "You start to lose your memory, you start to lose your confidence, you start to lose your invention. So I think that’s pretty much a closed book for me."

the earth is warming up!

the earth is warming up!

The atmospher is warming up the last decades because there is to much carbon dioxide produce by cars,

factories, and burning oil gas and coal going into the atmosphere. All this make a layer that doesn’t allow heat going out.

The warming up of the atmosphere make the pols melt. If the pols meld the penguins will not be able to live there.

Also if the pols meld the water level rises, and some cities can be flooded.

The warmig up make the climate change, and gets more violence and umpredictable. For instance huracans are stronger.

Places that were not hot before are now becoming hot. That makes deseases such as malaria are spreading all over the world

To stop the warming up of the atmosphere we all must reduce the carbon dioxide. Some time agoe there was a conference in Kyoto were most countries agreed to reduce the carbon dioxide.

To reduce it we have to use less the car, use other energies such as solar or wind energy, and recycle, reduce and reuse.

BOB MARLEY

BOB MARLEY

Bob Marley was a Jamaican singer-songwriter born in 1945 in a small village, Nine Mile. His mother was a black woman and his father was a white man: when he was young, Bob felt discriminated both by black and white people, because of his mixed origin. Bob Marley sang Reggae music and he is the best known reggae singer: he made reggae music listened outside Jamaica. This music was brought into America from Ethiopian slaves.

At the end of the Fifties, Bob moved with his mother to Kingston where he became a member of the Rastafarian movement, a religion brought into Jamaica by the slaves.

In 1963 Bob Marley and other five reggae musicians formed a rock group called "The Wailers". Their first album was realised worldwide in 1973.

Marley’s best known hits include "I Shot the Sheriff", "No Woman, No Cry", "Could You Be Loved", "Redemption Song", "One Love", some of them alone and some together with The Wailers.

Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein was born at Ulm, in Württemberg, Germany, on March 14, 1879. Six weeks later the family moved to Munich, where he later on began his schooling at the Luitpold Gymnasium. Later, they moved to Italy and Albert continued his education at Aarau, Switzerland and in 1896 he entered the

Swiss Federal Polytechnic School in Zurich to be trained as a teacher in physics and mathematics. In 1901, the year he gained his diploma, he acquired Swiss citizenship and, as he was unable to find a teaching post, he accepted a position as technical assistant in the Swiss Patent Office. In 1905 he obtained his doctor’s degree.

Albert Einstein received honorary doctorate degrees in science, medicine and philosophy from many European and American universities. During the 1920’s he lectured in Europe, America and the Far East and he was awarded Fellowships or Memberships of all the leading scientific academies throughout the world. He gained numerous awards in recognition of his work, including the Copley Medal of the Royal Society of London in 1925, and the Franklin Medal of the Franklin Institute in 1935.

Einstein’s gifts inevitably resulted in his dwelling much in intellectual solitude and, for relaxation, music played an important part in his life. He married Mileva Maric in 1903 and they had a daughter and two sons; their marriage was dissolved in 1919 and in the same year he married his cousin, Elsa Löwenthal, who died in 1936. He died on April 18, 1955 at Princeton, New Jersey.

As a teenager, John Lennon formed his own skiffle band called "The Quarrymen", with which it acted in the school. Shortly after she met Paul McCartney, who proposed to join the group. This in turn introduced him to George Harrison and John proposed to rename the group ’The Beatles’
With the Beatles very successful, and won millions of fans.
The success of the Beatles lasted until 1970, the date on which Paul McCartney decided to move away from the group. Since then John Lennon began his solo career by committing to externalize their own ideas. Result of this creative work was the album titled ’Imagine’, a dream of a better world.
From the

In 1975 was born the second son of John Lennon, named Sean, the fruit of their union with Yoko Ono. He retired temporarily from the artistic life to devote themselves to caring for your child.
In 1980 he published ’Double Fantasy’, composed entirely by himself. A new record with breaking records. It was a great moment in training. But just then, on December 8, 1980, when John and his wife, Yoko, returning from a party, Mark Chapman fired four shots into the chest of John, who died while being taken to hospital.

Enstein is very famous for his theoryes about light, matter, gravity, space and time, which helped scientists to understandd thes things much better than they had before.

His theoryes include the theory of relativity that is the most famous and the equation of e=mc2 that is very famous

He gained the Nobel Price in 1921 for physics.

When he born , he was a very fat baby with an unusually large head. Albert also didn't talk until he was about three; he was very strange.

BY PAU ALOS The climate is a short of a big machine, and de oxide of carbon dad was on the atmosfere, is making a greenhouse effect, making planet temperature increase.

The water well is increasse, and the ace of the pols are smeath, and all thats effects make tan ower cities are foolded.

The storms are going to get more violent and unpreible.

There are peapple than sad dan dat chang is not happening, because they are contribuiting; but is so important.

The Kyoto conference is a big conference about the change climate.

American, Asian, and African countries, are the most pol·liutad countries

We have to recicle, reuse, and resure and get active to stop pol·luting atmosfhere, and the change climate.

We musnt’t have use to oils, abuse use the car, and no contaminate too.

Global Warming Stop!! (By Andreu Arderiu)

What are happening to the planet?
The temperature of the earth is going up and the pollution of the planet is increasing very fast!

The air pollution of Co2, is making a layer at the caps of the atmosphere, this layer traps the hit of the sun, and this effect, called the greenhouse effect, causes the global warming

The fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas when are used they produces a lot of Co2.

The countries that produce more pollution are: North America, Australia and Europe. But the people that produce more are the heavy industry, the carmakers, and the oil, gas and coal companies.

The consequences of this are:

-Many animals will disappear, like the penguins, because they live on the ice and with the global warming the ice is melting very fast.

-Many people will be affected, because if the ice of the planet melts, the level of the sea will be going up, and the cities that are near the sea will be flood.

-Many diseases, like the malaria will spread, because the changing climate favours the mosquito

To protect our planet we must use less fossil fuels, we must recycle, we mustn’t abuse using the car, we mustn’t use too much plastics, paper is better, we can use solar or wind energy and learn more about the change climate.

Yes we can stop it!!

HOT EARTH

The fuels that we use the most are oil, gas and coal. This fuels effect in the atmosphere (ozone layer).

The ozone layer is a layer in Earth’s atmosphere which contains relatively high concentrations of ozone. This layer absorbs the sun’s high frequency ultraviolet light, which is potentially damaging to life on Earth.

A greenhouse is a transparent house of plastic that the hot air doesn’t go out. On Earth it is the same, the sunlight can penetrate to the Earth surface but must not can get out to the abundance of CO2, and the temerature of the Earth rise.

Consequences:

-The ice of the poles melts. Then the cities are built near the sea, like New Orleans, London, Barcelona, ... will get flooded.

-The animals that live in the poles, like polar bears, penguins,... is damaging her habitat.

-The water temperature of the oceans and seas will go up.

We can:

-Use public transports, like trains or buses.

-Reduse CO2, we can use the bycicle and walk.

We mustn’t:

-Not much use the car.

THE EARTH NEED OUR HELP

We know that our planet is hotting up, but why?

Because of the pollution that cars, planes, factory chimneys, ... produce burning gas, oil and coal. The CO2 expelled by these machines, form a layer in the atmosphere that leaves sun rays arrive on the Earth, but do not let them go out, as in a greenhouse. So, the temperature of the Earth increases.

And what happens to the oceans? The animals? The weather?

The water will rease up because the ice of the poles melts. These will be much worse for people, because cities will be flooded, some diseases like malaria will spread because the changing climate favors the mosquito that carries the disease. The weather will get more violent and unpredictable: Hurricanes will become more powerful, deserts increase,.. Lots of animals will get without shelter and their habitats will change.

Some people say that climate change is not really happening. Why?

People who have no respect for the Earth, use lots of fuel, and create lot of CO2 in factories or others facts that make they rich, say that climate change is not really happening because they want to continue without warring for our planet. To avoid these, some scientist of all the world, take a conference in Kyoto and warn other people that climate changing is real.

We can help, it is not really difficult!

We have to help, immediately! There are lot of things we can do to reduce the CO2, save energy... with little effort!

üUsing the car is for us a habit. We use it too much: to go shopping because we don’t want to carry bags, because we are too late to go on foot,... the bus and the underground are less polluting and the bike is nice and quite fast.
üThe thermostat use energy, and we used also when it is not necessary. If you’re cold, wear more clothes and in summer, if you’re hot, go outside in the shade.
ü Organic food is ecology because it don’t need pesticides to grow, and it don’t pollute the Earth.
ü Shop locally have advantages and disadvantages: the food hasn’t been transported from far places but to grow it needed special treatments because it isn’t in his climate.
ü Try to travel in light transports and avoid to use gas guzzling cars, aeroplanes,…
ü Change your car for another smallest and ecology. Drive it slowly and gently.
ü Solar and wind energy are ecology because they don’t expel CO2. Use it!
ü And remember the three Rs! REDUCE (surely you buy more than you need) REUSE (before throwing things think if you can use it more) and RECYCLE (have different bins to separate garbage).
Go shopping with you bag, buy reusable things, reuse plastic bags, bottles, carton boxes,…
