Mammoths were animals from the same family of the elephants, that lived between about 1.6 million years and 10,000 years ago.

Mammoths extinct between in 1000 BC, but a small population survive until 1650 BC in two small islands in Alaska.

Mammoths were quite large than an elephant, it reached heights of at least five meters at the shoulder. Mammoths weight 6 to 8 tonnes, but exceptionally large males reached 12 tonnes!

MANSTODON (BY PAU ALÒS MAIRAL E1E)

It is believed that Mastodon have first appeared almost four million years ago. They were natives, both species of Eurasia and North America.
Mastodon were the most common in forests of fir trees of the old ice in the eastern United States, and in environments warmer lowland. Their remains have been found as far as 300 km off the coast of northeastern United States, areas where the soil dries down during sea level of the last ice age.

Manstodon eat vegetables.

Manstodon are like mammoth (they have a big body, a big tromp and a horn.

THE TASMANIAN TIGER

THE TASMANIAN TIGER

The Tasmanian Tiger, was a large, carnivorous that is probably extinct.

The Tasmanian Tiger lived in dry eucalyptus forests, wetlands, and grasslands in continental Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea.

It measured 1,8 meters long, including the tail, and weighed about 30 kg.

This mammal had brown light fur with black stripes along the back, from the top of the tail to the shoulders. The tail was long and stiff.

The Tasmanian Tiger was a carnivore who hunted at night and at dusk and dawn. It ate wallabies, rabbits, sheep, poultry, goats, and other animals. It was a solitary hunter who used its keen sense of smell to find its prey.

Although it wasn't a fast runner, it had great stamina, and pursued its prey until the victim was exhausted.

Females had a rear-facing pouch in which the tiny immature young lived for many months, drinking the female's milk.

EXTINCT ANIMAL (By Nèstor Ferrer)

VELOCIRAPTOR

This is a good name because Velociraptor was a small dinosaur that could run fast (60 Km/hr). Velociraptor was a theropod. The theropods were a group of dinosaurs that walked on two legs. These groups of dinosaurs are the ancestors of birds.

The Velociraptor was just under a meter tall. The Velociraptor weighed was between 7 and 15 Kg. Velociraptor had feathers on its skin, the same as birds do today. On each foot, they had a large dangerous curved toe claw. Velociraptors were also very agile.

Velociraptor was a carnivore. This means that it ate meat. They ate animals like lizards, little mammals and small dinosaurs.

Velociraptors lived during the Late Cretaceous period, about 80 - 85 million years ago. This was only 15 million years before the dinosaurs became extinct. The world was much hotter than it is today, and there were no polar ice caps.

Velociraptor lived in Asia. Fossils have been fond in Russia, China and Mongolia (Gobi desert). They lived in a place that was hot and covered by sand dunes.

WHEN MY GRANDPARENTS WERE YOUNG (by giulia duch)

WHEN MY GRANDPARENTS WERE YOUNG (by giulia duch)

When my grandparents were young, lots of things were different.

Many people didn’t go to school or only for few years. There were schools for boys and schools for girls. Children played in the streets because there weren’t too many cars. Children had very few toys, and they played with handmade things.

The houses were very different too.  Few houses had running water and so there weren’t washing machines, dish washer, toilets as we know... In the fireplace people cooked and heated. Some ovens worked with gas.

There weren’t computers, television, speakers...and others entertainment and comfort we have today.

Moving was also difficult, they didn’t use the car because it was too expensive and only shops and businesses had one. The most used transports were the train, the tram and the bike.

The families usually were larger than today and old people lived in company. Women didn’t work, they taked care of the children and they worked at home.

There wasn't computers, music players, microwave...

There wasn't so much pollution.

They lived in houses, because there weren't storeys.
